This building is a market that celebrates Mexican cuisine with locally sourced, organic vegetables and meats. The architecture is derived from the old mining warehouses of the upper part of the Baja California peninsula and is built with the materials of the time. The interior is a fluid expanse created with steel beams from a French train station or factory. The wood and steel mezzanine offers an enchanting view where vendors take advantage of the ocean views. An essential factor in the design was to include kitchen windows where possible to allow customers to enjoy their food preparation.
The Verano Group supervised the project from the start and was handled by the principal architect ( Doraman Associates) and owner. In this phase of the project, my role was to create the working drawings and implement changes requested by the owner.
